Hey there! THIS POST IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH The Local Inn. IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST OPINION AND THIS POST, THEY GRACIOUSLY HOSTED Me for a couple nights. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN!
Old Florida Retro Design

The Local was originally built in 1940, and was totally renovated before opening in late 2021. The renovation kept true to the art deco inspiration of the 40s, and was designed to transport you back to old Florida. With tropical vibes, neon lights, and the retro pink touches, you’ll instantly feel transported away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Since it’s opening in 2021, the hotel has become one of the most popular places to stay in St. Augustine. The Local was also named the #1 roadside motel in the US by USA Today. Roadside motels have always been a staple in traveling Florida, and this little Inn has definitely captured the nostalgia while combining it with a modern feel and experience.
Location, Location, Location!
What really sets The Local Inn apart is the location. The hotel is nestled perfectly between downtown and St. Augustine Beach (the address is 512 Anastasia Blvd if you want to peek at it on the map). It’s location makes it an easy point to explore all that St. Augustine has to offer. On Anastasia Boulevard heading towards the historic district, you’ll find lots of options for dining and entertainment including OddBirds, Sarbez, Llama Restaurant, and more! Just a couple blocks behind the hotel is the Conch House, where you can dine in over-water tiki huts, take a fishing charter for an adventurous activity in St. Augustine, or explore the nautical lounge down on the dock.

Getting to Historic downtown St. Augustine is easily accessible from the Inn, and is close enough that you don’t have to worry about driving and parking downtown (which can be difficult when town is busy, especially during Nights of Lights). It is walking distance from the hotel over the Bridge of Lions (1 mile), you can rent a bike from the hotel (more on that below), or call a ride to avoid the difficulties of parking downtown.
St. Augustine beach is under 4 miles away, and you’ll pass lots of attractions along the way like the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, The St. Augustine Amphitheater, and Anastasia State Park. The Local is truly nestled in the best location in St. Augustine, providing the best of both worlds.
Vibey Tropical Rooms

When you arrive to the Inn, you’ll be greeted with the cutest pink door and tropical welcome mat. The hotel rooms are filled with all the tropical touches you can hope for. Colorful wall paper adorned with lush foliage, pink touches throughout the room, natural wicker hanging light, and palm tree artwork hang around your room to truly make it feel like a tropical escape.

The rooms highlight some sustainable practices like wall mounted toiletries that are refilled, provide housekeeping on a requested basis instead of daily, and offer the digital experience, so there is no paper trail consuming resources.

Fully Digital Hotel
The Local Inn is the first fully digital hotel that I had ever experienced. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but everything was seamless and made my stay flexible.
Using the Virdee App, the hotel operates on a completely contactless, digital premise. No need to check in with the front desk, it’s all handled through your phone. Your room key is on your phone and works with the sensors around the property, so no need to worry about losing your key. If you need assistance with anything, help is just a text away, and you can book amenities through your phone. This was my first experience staying at a digital hotel, and it was a really unique experience, and so seamless!

The Cutest Pool
No trip to Florida is complete without a day in the sun or cooling off from the summer heat. The pool is the perfect spot for relaxing and cooling off after exploring St. Augustine. Lay out on the cute pink and white striped towels or float on the flamingo floaties that you can sometimes find in the pool. It’s the perfect little spot for a relaxing day in the sun, and a fun way to meet other travelers that are staying at the hotel!

Amenities
Complementary coffee and tea in the Florida Room

If staying active is important to you during your vacations, you’ll have access to a full gym at Anastasia Fitness during your stay at The Local Inn. This gym offers so much, from classes, to pickleball courts and a lap pool, and more. You’ll have complementary access for all your fitness needs!
Bike Rentals (Drifters)
Anastasia Boulevard is a super bike-able area, and you can rent some Drifters bikes right from in front of the hotel. These beach cruisers are perfect to take to get into downtown, and is MUCH easier than trying to find parking downtown.

Pet Friendly
If you’re traveling with your furry friend, The Local Inn is pet friendly! No need to leave your pups at home, the hotel allows 2 pets with a combined weight of 60 pounds to stay. There is a $75 pet fee, but it’s worth it to bring your four legged friends on vacation with you!
